ATLANTA – Atlanta United today announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with American Family Insurance to host the «American Family Insurance Cup,» an annual match Atlanta United will play against foreign clubs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The inaugural match will be played on June 14 when Atlanta hosts Mexican club C.F. Pachuca at 7:30 ET. The match will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southeast and on the club’s official website and radio on 92.9 The Game and La Mejor. American Family Insurance has been Atlanta’s official jersey sponsor since the inaugural 2017 season and is one of the original sponsors.
The match marks the first meeting between C.F. Pachuca and Atlanta United. Pachuca has won Liga MX six times and is second in the Mexican Clausura standings with an 8-2-1 record and the league’s best goal differential. The club has been crowned CONCACAF champion five times, winning the CONCACAF Champions League in 2017 and 2010, and also won the previous competition, the Champions’ Cup, in 2008, 2007 and 2002. Pachuca also won the 2006 Copa Sudamericana, the international competition that invites the best teams from CONCACAF and CONMEBOL.
